Collaborative effort between CPTLN-Lirio de los Valles Lutheran Mission-Nebraska Partners Outreach program graduates its first class. Lirio’s Beauty School graduated its first class with a beautiful final competition and thanksgiving celebration at Lirio de los Valles church in Tijuana. A sports program, sewing program and beauty program were begun last summer through a grant by our partners in Nebraska led by Dick and Sue Rockenbach.
An outreach team sent by All Saints Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Washington was collaborating with CPTLN when the graduation was held and two of the members participated in the final competition which challenged the graduating class to create a unique special event “up-do”
Of the six graduates, four of the women joined the class from the community and began attending church at Lirio de los Valles. One young woman, Elva at 23 is a mother of three daughters. Her husband is an iron worker. She was such a dedicated student, after the graduation, she has decided to continue her beauty studies at a formal academy. She has seen how the beauty course was a great encouragement to women and wants to participate in the next beauty course and serve as the instructor. She is confident that what she is taught she can then share and teach with the women who sign up for the Beauty Course at Lirio de los Valles.
She is delighted to have found her church home and two Sundays ago when Pastor Josue asked all the mothers to come to the altar for a special blessing, and asked that husbands and children come up also to place their hands as a blessing on their loved one, it was Elva that was moved to tears that soon turned into deep sobs of joy.
Please pray for this outreach program and for Elva and her service for those who will come and sign up to learn about beauty and discover the true beauty found in a relationship with Jesus Christ!
