Today in Tijuana!

As I cross the border I see the vehicles with smoked windows waiting for their employers to cross the border…..they are the bodyguards.

We visited Legna today to see her ministry outreach.  She has set up a coffee shop on a great corner across from a large high school (maybe 4,000 students) and a block away is a University and three other schools within a few blocks!  They are in a provisional spot and want to rent the space that has some room for some interaction….some fuseball, etc.  They are planning for being self supporting in one year’s time. Meanwhile, they are looking for a partner to support this ministry outreach for a one year period at $100 per month.  Across the street is a soccer field for sports activities.  Building bridges….she understands what its all about.

She is having a very hard time finding those dome tops for the cups….these paper specialty items are expensive and hard to find.  Is there any group wishing to support this ministry by purchasing 12 and 16 ouce cups and tops?  Volunteer Jhosselyn who is supported in her education by Lutheran partners and is studying Nutrition at the University has created all the health drinks offered.  Is there anyone who has access to granola bars?  Outreach opportunity to teach nutrition!

From there we promised to visit Pastor Abdiel and Alicia at the Lutheran mission in Maclovio Rojas.  His neighbor has offered the two lots next to his for sale…and its a corner lot!  Please pray for this possible future church site.

Little Abner is a very willing photography subject.  We enjoyed a lunch with the family….prepared with love.  It is always a wonderful opportunity of mutual encouragement when gathering with ministry servants!  Just the thing to carry me through a few hours of paperwork!  It is the time to write grant proposals for a few LWML Districts that have invited us to submit requests for support for the mission work in Tijuana.

Thank you friends and supporters for your prayers during our transition time.  We still do not have our telephone (or internet) set up in our new office.  Hopefully, by Thursday….

Enjoy the slide show.  If you place your cursor over the photo you can read the caption and it will pause.
